FAQ

The nearest town to me is missing, are you likely to add other places?
We are adding new places as time goes on, but in the meantime list your item in the area nearest to you and mention a more precise location in the item description. Or you can email us and tell us the town you need listed and we will add it.

You haven't listed a suitable category for me to list my item in.
As the site is new we haven't managed to add all the item categories - if you think there is a category missing please drop us an email and if we feel it isn't adequately covered then we will add it to the site.

I submitted an ad and it hasnt appeared on the site yet.
Ads have to be reviewed before they are displayed on the site. We try and get through these are quickly as possible and aim to have all new ads approved and displayed within 24 hours of submission to us.

I want to search for things in more than one area as there are a few places that would be handy for me - can I do that?
Yes, if you click the advanced search button then you can select as many towns as possible if you hold down your control (ctrl) key

I want to change my user name - how do I do that?
Unfortunately its not possible to change your user name, so choose carefully as it will appear on the site next to any ads you post.

I think Total Baby is a good idea - do you have any posters or fliers I can put up in my local area?
Great! Click this link www.totalbaby.net/posters to go a page where you can download 3 different sizes of poster and flier. Feel free to hand them out and stick them up anywhere you think people will see them!

Tips for Good Selling

* only include one item per listing - it means people can search for all the items you are selling.

*add a photo - it gives people a better idea of what you are selling, increasing the chance of a sale. Make sure the picture is clear and shows any highlights or flaws the item might have. If you do not own a digital camera to use for this purpose take a picture using a traditional camera and use a scanner to save them in a digital format Many shops that offer photo processing services should be able to help you with this if you are unsure.

* Include a clear description - Point out the useful features of the item and remember to highlight its advantages.  Try not to overlook the obvious, but important features, e.g. the colour, for some people it might matter that their new baby boy has blue trim on his cot not pink!

* Select the correct category for the item to be in - if you are unsure do a search for a similar item on the site to see which section it is listed under.

* Price the item realistically - If you paid £100 for something and there are a number of the same items listed on the site and they cost less you are less likely to sell the item. Unless it is a premium product in high demand be realistic about how you price your item. You want to get rid of it after all!

* Be honest about an items' condition - Point out any flaws - if you are selling something second-hand people are going to expect some wear-and-tear but are unlikely to buy if they dont know about problems until they see the item in real life!
